Guide to small business grants in Victoria

Business Victoria has a number of grant programs currently available for small businesses — from flood relief to support programs

Small Business Immediate Flood Relief Program

Status: Open. Applications close at 4pm on 13 January 2023.

This program is for businesses directly affected by the Victorian flood events that commenced in October 2022. Two streams of support are available under this program:

  1. Immediate Flood Relief grant — businesses directly impacted by the Victorian floods that commenced in October 2022 can access a one-off grant of $5000 to cover immediate expenses. Businesses must be located within an eligible local government area and incurred significant direct damage to their place of business, business assets, stock or equipment.
  2. Business Relief Service — a free service offering one-on-one support from a local business relief adviser who will be available via telephone and on the ground to guide business owners through the available Commonwealth, state and local supports. They can also help you manage insurance and landlord issues, assess impacts and form strategies for recovery. To access the Business Relief Service, please call the Business Victoria hotline on 13 22 15 and they will connect you with dedicated business relief advisers and support. The hotline operates seven days a week.

Wellbeing and Mental Health Support for Victorian Small Businesses

Status: Open

This is an ongoing program where Victorians dealing with the challenges of running a small business can get the mental health support they need to navigate through the impacts of COVID‑19.

Current support under this program includes the Partners in Wellbeing Helpline. Call 1300 375 330 Monday to Friday 9am to 10pm or Saturday, Sunday and public holidays 9am to 5pm.

Small Business Bus

Status: Open

This is another ongoing program where the Victorian Government’s Small Business Bus can help you to develop your business ideas and capabilities.

Low Carbon Manufacturing Grant Program — Business Readiness Stream

Status: Open. Applications close 20 January 2023

This program assists small to medium-sized Victorian manufacturers to access business services, advice, or expertise in order to participate in low-carbon and renewable energy supply chains.

Grants of up to $50,000 are available. All grants must be matched by a minimum cash co-contribution of $1 for every $1 granted.
