Baumgartners’ offices in Kew look and feel the same as most professional suites in Melbourne, but there is a nook reserved for a very special purpose.
Since International Women’s Day in March, the firm has supported “Share the Dignity” by running two distinct donation drives for this charity.
Coordinated by the International Women’s Day Committee, this year the Baumgartners team recently raised over $600 thanks to the generosity of both clients and the team alike who dug deep for the “It’s In the Bag” campaign.
But the purpose of It’s in the Bag is more tangible than cash donations alone — throughout November Baumgartners’ office became a drop-off point for bags of life’s essentials and a few luxuries as well.
Audit Manager and IWD Committee member Belinda Taylor says It’s in the Bag is about giving women and girls respect and dignity at their most vulnerable time.
“We’re doing our part for women and girls who may be waking up in a refuge to know someone has thought of them this Christmas”.
“It was a truly satisfying feeling to fill the boot of my car with donations of bags containing personal hygiene, baby care items and some small luxuries then hand all those over to the staff at Bunnings for collection.”
Recent flooding compounded the difficulties some people are facing in our regions. Share the Dignity Founder and Managing Director Rochelle Courtenay said it filled her heart with joy to see the incredible generosity of the community.
“I have loved seeing so many beautiful bags, and thoughtful notes from you all! Thank you to everyone who has put together a bag, is planning to donate a bag or has sponsored a bag. It will certainly make Christmas brighter for those who are doing it tough.”
Giving is an important part of Baumgartners and everyone on the team did their part to make a difference.
“It has been incredible to see everyone rally together to make Christmas brighter for those in very difficult circumstances,” Belinda added.
