Paul Carrazzo's Upcoming WA and Scone Festival Tax Talks

The world of horse tax never stands still and neither does our resident horse tax expert, Paul Carrazzo.

To demonstrate this, Paul will be running special horse tax talks in WA and at the NSW Scone Horse Festival in the coming weeks.

The first of Paul’s talks will be in WA on Friday 24 April 2026.

The talk will be held at Ascot Racetrack and will be presented on an “in-person” or “online” (Webinar) basis.

Peak industry bodies in WA are supporting the talk, including TBWA, WAROA, RWWA, Perth Racing and WARTA. They all understand how important it is to update the WA industry as to the current hot topics in horse taxation.

Paul Carrazzo will talk on the following topics:

• ATO horse audits update
• Business or Hobby
• Business Plans
• Tax structuring for a new horse business
• How to change your business structure
• WA land tax exemptions for primary producers
• GST rules for reimbursing trainer costs
• Treatment of racing stock for trainers
• Selling horses – FAQ’s
• Stock write-downs for mares and stallions

Paul’s next talk will be held at the Scone Racetrack on Friday 8 May. This talk will be in conjunction with leading horse law experts, Morgan and English. The talk will be hosted by TBNSW with the assistance of the Scone Horse Festival.
